Each year Williamsport Bureau of Police takes reports of firearms being stolen from within vehicles, often times the vehicle being left unlocked. Frequently, after these firearms are stolen from vehicles the firearms are utilized in shootings or other criminal activity. Williamsport Bureau of Police is asking for the public's help in combatting this issue. Please ensure you are not leaving any firearms within unattended vehicles, especially overnight. We recommend securing them within your residence if not carrying and please remember to lock your vehicle. Often, simply locking your vehicle can thwart those wishing to take belongings from within. Together, we can make our community safer and reduce the number of illegal firearms on the street.
