Criminal Attempt Homicide, Aggravated Assault, Persons Not to Possess Firearms, Burglary, Discharge of Firearm into Occupied Structure, Recklessly Endangering Another Person, False Identification to Law Enforcement, and related offenses - WBP In # 22-09077 - TYREE RASHEEN CLEVELAND, M/39, was charged with the above offenses after officers were emergency dispatched to a residence in the 1000 Block of Vine Ave for a disturbance with a gun. As units responded to the area they were notified that the male actor was observed fleeing east from the residence on foot. A Penn College Police Officer located CLEVELAND fleeing the scene, and upon seeing the officer CLEVELAND drew a gun, pointed it at the officer, and fired numerous shots at him before fleeing north on foot. The Penn College Police Officer was not struck by gunfire. CLEVELAND continued to flee a short distance before encountering additional officers, and he was subsequently taken into custody.
During the course of the investigation, it was also learned that prior to firing at the officer CLEVELAND confronted a nearby female resident with a gun. CLEVELAND made threats to the female before pointing a gun at her, forcing his way into her apartment, and then fleeing the residence before encountering law enforcement.
CLEVELAND was transported to Police Headquarters, where he attempted to furnish officers with a false name. CLEVELAND was positively identified and discovered to have several arrest warrants in other jurisdictions. CLEVLAND is also prohibited from possessing a firearm.
Charges were filed against CLEVELAND for Criminal Attempt Homicide, Aggravated Assault, Burglary, and related Firearms Offenses. He was arraigned before MDJ Christian Frey and was denied bail before being committed to the Lycoming County Prison.
