As part of Your Guardian Angel Preschool's annual Community Helpers Day, the Lycoming Regional Police Department made a special visit to the Pre-K Counts classroom, bringing smiles, excitement, ad a valuable lesson in safety and service.
Pfc. Hughes and Mental Health Co-Responder Darryl Andreas spent some time with the young students, sharing about their important roles in helping keep the community safe and supported. Pfc. Hughes introduced herself and explained what it means to be a police officer. The children were especially fascinated as she showed them the various tools on her belt and vest—each with a unique purpose. From the radio she uses to respond to calls, to the flashlight for dark places, and even her badge, every item sparked curiosity and questions from the eager preschoolers.
Mr. Andreas spoke about how he works with officers like Pfc. Hughes to support people who may be having a hard time with their emotions or mental health. He explained, in kid-friendly language, how being kind and listening can help others feel better.
The visit was filled with learning, laughter, and of course a bunch of smiles. Events like Community Helpers Day offer a powerful opportunity for young children to connect with those who serve and protect time—and to see firsthand how teamwork and compassion make a difference in their world.
The Lycoming Regional Police Department sends a special thank you to Your Guardian Angel Preschool for allowing our department to take part in your day.
